Start-up for the caster, which took place ahead of schedule, is one component of a large-scale enlargement project for the Linz location, referred to as “Linz-Project 2010”.

Elbe-Stahlwerke Feralpi Commissions Rod and Light Section Mill

29 June 2004 - Elbe-Stahlwerke Feralpi GmbH, Germany, recently started up its Riesa bar and wire rod mill, which had been modernized by SMS Meer GmbH, Germany. The mill achieved an output of 1,600 tonnes per day in its first week of production following the brief plant shutdown of only four weeks.

Consortium leader SMS Demag was in charge of project planning and construction of the stainless steel production line as well of as a continuous caster.
