Danieli to Supply Additional Bloom Grinders for Seah Besteel

Seah Besteel, Korea, recently contracted Danieli Centro Maskin to supply two bloom grinders, which will be added to two identical units that were installed last year.

The two new machines will be equipped with HiGrind, a full digital automation system that will control the grinding operation. They will process square blooms from 160 up to 200 mm, with a standard length from 6 up to 12 meters, in engineering steel grades for automotive industry.

Danieli’s scope of supply will also include a new system for direct inspection of the bloom surface. Jointly developed by Seah Besteel together with the Danieli Centro Maskin Technical Department, this innovative system will enable the direct detection of bloom surface defects by the grinder operator, eliminating the need for additional personnel to perform this function at a separate location. A considerable reduction of bloom re-conditioning at the delivery side of the line is also expected, as a further benefit of the new system.

The new grinding machines will be delivered with a lead time of five months from the order, with the expectation to have them in full operation by September 2007.

The two previous machines were delivered in just seven months from the order (one month ahead of schedule) and were to be in full operation by the end of June 2007.
