09 February 2012 - Qatar Steel has signed a slag sale and recycling contract with Slag Aggregate Producer that will enable better reuse and reinvestment while helping to consolidate and strengthen the co-operation ties between Qatar Steel and the private sector.

Vale Employees Return to Sudbury Mines

08 February 2012 - Vale announced that employees have begun returning to the company’s five Sudbury area mines following a temporary suspension of operations to focus on safety. Operations were temporarily suspended after an employee was fatally injured on January 29.

Metinvest to Invest $8 Billion at Mariupol-Based Steel Works

08 February 2012 - Metinvest has announced plans to invest on average $1 billion every year through 2020 in development of its Azovstal and Iliych iron and Steel Works. The investments will help the company expand annual steel output by 35% at the two facilities.

Izhora Pipe Mill Produces Record 500,000 Tonnes of LD Pipes

25 January 2012 - OAO Severstal announced that its pipe production unit, the Izhora Pipe Mill, produced more than 500,000 tonnes of large-diameter (LD) pipes in 2011, representing a 10% increase on 2010 production levels, primarily for use in major oil and gas projects in Russia.
