Three Atlas Tube Facilities Achieve STINA Certified Producer Status
12 October 2011 - Atlas Tube's manufacturing facilities in Chicago, Ill.; Harrow, Ont.; and Plymouth, Mich. are among the first steel tubular producers in North America to earn the right to display the Steel Tube Institute of North America's Certified Producer Mark on its products.
Tata Steel and Dutch Government Sign Green Deal
06 October 2011 - Tata Steel signed a new agreement with the Government in the Netherlands committing Tata Steel’s IJmuiden plant to further improvements in its sustainability performance. The three Green Deal projects will be carried out in IJmuiden’s blast furnaces, steel meltshop, and wide hot strip mill.

JFE Steel to Supply ERW Pipe for North Sea and Norwegian Sea Oil Projects
29 September 2011 - JFE Steel has received an from Statoil to supply 3500 tonnes of MightySeam® electric-resistance-welded steel pipe for oil projects in the North Sea and Norwegian Sea. Both projects will use the reel-based method to lay the line pipes.

27 September 2011 - The U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration has cited ABC Coke for 27 safety and health violations following the death of a worker in March. Proposed penalties total $124,000.

Outokumpu Signs Final Agreement with Tubinoxia on Tubular JV
26 September 2011 - Outokumpu and Tubinoxia, an Italian company controlled by Andrea Gatti, have signed the agreement on the joint venture (JV) for Outokumpu's tubular unit (OSTP). Tubinoxia will become a minority owner of OSTP with an option to become a majority owner in three years.

NLMK Commences Hot Tests at New Cogeneration Plant
08 September 2011 - NLMK’s new 150-MW Recovery Cogeneration Plant has started receiving and processing BF gas from Blast Furnace No. 7 currently being hot tested. With the new plant, Novolipetsk’s (NLMK’s Lipetsk site) generation capacity will increase by 45% to 482 MW.
