SMI Steel Products Enters Agreement for SmartBeam Technology

22 September 2004 - SMI Steel Products, Ark., has signed an exclusive agreement with R.F. Stearns to drive the use of SMI's SmartBeam(R) product in multi-story structures throughout Alaska, Hawaii, Washington, Oregon and Northern California. Leveraging Stearns' design/build capabilities, this strategic alliance will help developers, contractors and architects to improve aesthetics, performance, scheduling and cost for steel frames within parking garages, industrial buildings, office buildings and other commercial structures.

Dofasco Signs Technology Agreement with JFE Steel

22 September 2004 - Dofasco Inc. has signed a Technology Cooperation Agreement for automotive steels with JFE Steel Corp. of Japan.

Carpenter Raises Prices on Stainless and High Temperature Bar Products

21 September 2004 - Carpenter Technology Corp.’s Specialty Alloys Operations unit announced that it is increasing prices for all grades of stainless steel and high temperature alloy bar products by approximately 10%, effective with new orders and shipments as of October 1st.

AK Steel Announces October Surcharges

21 September 2004 - AK Steel has advised its flat-rolled carbon steel customers that a $157 per ton surcharge will be added to invoices for products shipped in October, an increase of $15 from September's surcharge of $142 per ton.

20 September 2004 - ATI Allegheny Ludlum announced it is revising pricing for light gauge size extras and the grade base for type 403. The price increases are effective with shipments September 27, 2004.

United States Steel Names Vice President and Treasurer

20 September 2004 - United States Steel Corp. Executive Vice President & Chief Financial Officer Gretchen R. Haggerty announced that Larry T. Brockway has been named Vice President & Treasurer effective October 1, responsible for all treasury functions. Brockway will continue to report to Haggerty, who formerly held the position.

Wheeling-Pittsburgh Announces Pricing of Common Stock Offering

17 September 2004 - Wheeling-Pittsburgh Corp. announced the pricing of a public offering of 3,650,000 shares of common stock, including 477,602 shares offered on behalf of certain selling shareholders, at a public offering price of $29.00 per share. Wheeling-Pittsburgh has granted the underwriters a 30-day option to purchase up to 547,500 additional primary shares of common stock to cover over-allotments, if any.

Ipsco Employees Provide Relief for Hurricane Ivan Victims

17 September 2004 - Employees at the various Ipsco operations throughout the United States and Canada are rallying together to support their colleagues and friends whose families have been impacted by Hurricane Ivan. The storm passed through Mobile, Ala., early Thursday without significantly affecting Ipsco's Alabama steel mill, however it is expected that many families will not be so fortunate.
