History of the AIST Northeastern Ohio Member Chapter
In 1916, the Cleveland District Section became the third District Section of the Association of Iron and Steel Engineers (AISE). The Youngstown District Section followed in 1953 and the Canton District section in 1958. In 1975, the Iron and Steel Society (ISS) created the Cleveland Local Section. With the merger of AISE and ISS to form AIST in 2004, the AISE Cleveland, Canton and Youngstown sections were merged with the ISS Cleveland section to form the AIST Northeastern Ohio Member Chapter. The member chapter maintains the section history and still hosts events in the individual sections – Cleveland, Canton and Youngstown. The Northeastern Ohio Member Chapter includes portions of Northeastern Ohio and Northwestern Pennsylvania.
