NKKTubes Celebrates a Century in the Steel Industry

13 June 2012 - NKKTubes, Tenaris’s seamless tubes mill in Japan, is celebrating 100 years in the steel industry. Nihon Kokan KK (NKK) was inaugurated on June 8, 1912, starting an industrial project that continues even today as part of Tenaris.

11 June 2012 - Essar Steel India Limited has commissioned a 19MW heat recovery power plant at its Hazira complex. Using heat generated during the manufacturing process, the plant will provide power internally, creating an energy efficient complex and reducing the company’s power costs.

ThyssenKrupp Steel Europe Improves Environmental Performance with Dortmund CAL Upgrade

28 May 2012 - ThyssenKrupp Steel Europe AG has modernized the continuous annealing line at its Dortmund site. The new burner technology was developed specifically for use in the Dortmund CAL, and the investment of around 30 million euros will help reduce by half the nitrogen oxide emissions from the line.

Canadian Trade Tribunal Initiates Inquiry into Welded Carbon Steel Pipe

18 May 2012 - The Canadian International Trade Tribunal initiated a preliminary injury inquiry into a complaint by Novamerican Steel Inc. and Bolton Steel Tube Co. Ltd. that they have suffered injury as a result of the dumping of certain carbon steel welded pipe from Chinese Taipei, the Republic of India, the Sultanate of Oman, the Republic of Korea, Thailand, the Republic of Turkey, and the United Arab Emirates, and the subsidizing of these goods from the Republic of India, the Sultanate of Oman, and the United Arab Emirates.

Gerdau to Replace Continuous Caster at St. Paul Facility
