NKKTubes, Tenaris’s seamless tubes mill in Japan, is celebrating 100 years in the steel industry. Nihon Kokan KK (NKK) was inaugurated on June 8, 1912, starting an industrial project that continues even today as part of Tenaris.
“Throughout its history the company has always searched for innovation and further improvement of its products and processes,” said Roland Balkenende, Tenaris North East Asia Area Manager, in a special letter to customers.
NKKTubes’ history with Tenaris began in August 2000, with the creation of NKKTubes, acquiring NKK’s seamless pipe activities. Since then Tenaris has been committed to investing in the growth of its Japanese operations, especially the R&D Center established on the mill’s premises.
Today, the manufacturing facility has an annual production capacity of 260,000 tonnes of high-grade seamless pipes for oil and gas and industrial applications. It is located in Kawasaki city, where it employs 700 people.
