23 April 2010 - The Department of Commerce announced on April 22 its affirmative preliminary determination in the antidumping duty investigation on imports of certain seamless carbon and alloy steel standard, line, and pressure pipe from P.R. China.

Commerce Finds Dumping of OCTG from China

14 April 2010 - The U.S. Department of Commerce announced on April 9 its affirmative final determination in the antidumping duty investigation on imports of oil country tubular goods from P.R. China. Commerce determined that Chinese producers/exporters have sold OCTG in the United States at margins ranging from 29.94 to 99.14%.

Canadian Tribunal Delivers Mixed Findings on OCTG from China

24 March 2010 - The Canadian International Trade Tribunal finds that dumped and subsidized coupling stock OCTG from China had not caused or threatened to the domestic industry, but that dumped and subsidized casing and tubing OCTG from China had.

Posteel Opens New Pipe Plant in Oman

19 March 2010 - Posteel recently opened Gulf International Pipe Industry (GIPI), a new 250,000-tonne production facility specializing in API pipes based in Sohar, Oman. Posteel will supply 100,000 tonnes of hot-rolled coils annually to GIPI, which are needed to produce the pipes.

SMS Meer Commissions ERW Tube Welding Line at Arvedi

02 February 2010 - SMS Meer has successfully commissioned a 12-¾” ERW (electric resistance welding) tube welding line for heavy wall thicknesses at Arvedi Tube Acciaio S.p.A. in Cremona, Italy. The project was completed in one year.

API Steel Pipe Factory Completed in Pittsburg

13 November 2009 - Posco has completed construction of an annual 270,000-tonne scale API steel pipe factory in Pittsburg, Calif. United Spiral Pipe, established jointly with U.S. Steel and Seah Steel, will manufacture and sell API-certified steel pipes designed for energy transportation.

U.S. Commerce Department to Impose Preliminary Duties on OCTG from China

06 November 2009 - The U.S. Department of Commerce preliminarily determines that oil country tubular goods from P.R. China are being sold or are likely to be sold in the United States at less than fair value, as provided in section 733 of the Tariff Act of 1930, as amended.

HFI Tube Welding Line in Operation at Thisvi Pipeworks

28 October 2009 - In the Thisvi Pipeworks in Greece, Corinth Pipeworks has produced the world's first 26-inch longitudinally welded pipe by using the High Frequency Induction (HFI) process. During a three-week shutdown, the line was extended jointly by Corinth and SMS Meer to allow production of the pipes.

Largest Assel Mill Commissioned at Hubei Xin Yegang

27 October 2009 - Hubei Xin Yegang has rolled the first tube on what is claimed to be the world’s largest Assel mill supplied by SMS Meer, which received the order to supply the mill in July 2007. Erection began in May 2009

Latrobe Specialty Steel Reintroduces LS-A286 to Expanded Markets

10 September 2009 - In addition to applications in the energy and aerospace fastener markets, Latrobe Specialty Steel anticipates expanding interest from the gas turbine and supercharger supply chains. It also foresees LS-A286 in high-strength nonmagnetic and cryogenic applications.
