04 September 2013 - Bradley K. Ewers has been named vice president, marketing for EVRAZ Stratcor, Inc., located in the company’s sales office in Chicago, Ill. In his new position, Mr. Ewers will be responsible for the sales and marketing of EVRAZ Stratcor’s extensive line of specialty vanadium alloys and chemicals.
Severstal North America Announces Appointment of New CEO
03 September 2013 - Severstal, one of the world’s largest steel and mining companies, announced it has appointed Saikat Dey as chief executive officer of its subsidiary Severstal North America. Dey replaces Sergei Kuznetsov, who departed after four years as CEO of the company.

03 September 2013 - Workers locked out at U.S. Steel’s Lake Erie works in Canada have voted to accept a contract offer, according to results posted on their union's website late on Friday, Reuters reports.
316 New Apprentices Taken on At ThyssenKrupp Steel Europe
03 September 2013 - The new apprenticeship year at ThyssenKrupp Steel Europe AG has begun. As of 1 September the company has taken on a total of 316 apprentices in 21 different occupations — 270 young men and 46 young women.

29 August 2013 - Esmark Inc. announced management changes for its Esmark Steel Group subsidiary to better serve its diverse customer base and streamline service center and mill operations in Chicago and Ohio, respectively. As part of the management realignment, Esmark Inc. chairman and CEO James P. Bouchard will reassume CEO duties of Esmark Steel Group.

19 August 2013 - United States Steel Corporation's Board of Directors elected president and chief operating officer Mario Longhi as a director, and announced that he will succeed Chairman John P. Surma as chief executive officer effective 1 September 2013. Surma will retain the position of executive chairman through 31 December 2013 when he will retire from the company and from the board of directors.
