DiMicco Receives Citizen of the Carolinas Award

DiMicco received the award for his leadership within the steel industry and for his significant contributions to manufacturing in the region and nationwide.

In his acceptance remarks, DiMicco noted that his success was the result of all his Nucor teammates lifting him up on their shoulders.  He also spoke about the importance of leadership in dealing with crises in business and in government and urged our political leaders to pull people together to deal with today's most pressing crisis — getting people back to work.

"I am honored to receive this award from the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce," DiMicco said.  "At Nucor, an award like this is really a team award.  The success I have enjoyed at Nucor is the result of the effort put in by each teammate to grow our company and make it into not only a great North Carolina company, but a great company in communities across the entire country."

The Charlotte Chamber of Commerce has presented the Citizen of the Carolinas Award since 1990.  It is the highest award the Chamber gives to an individual.  DiMicco joins a list of distinguished past winners that include the Rev. Billy Graham, Marian Wright Edelman, Dean Smith, Hugh McColl, Ben Bernanke, Charlie Rose, Jerry Richardson, Harvey Gantt, Julius Chambers and Leon and Sandra Levine.
