Severstal North America Appoints Director of Government Relations
12/17/2013 - Effective immediately, Severstal North America has named Mr. William S. Noakes, Jr., its director, government relations, based in Dearborn, Mich.
In his new position, Noakes will be directing the local, state and federal government affairs programs, as well as developing relationships with key legislators and regulators to effectively represent Severstal and champion the company's goals.

Bill's impressive background, experience and strategic guidance will be a great asset for our organization," said Saikat Dey, CEO, Severstal North America.
Prior to joining Severstal, Noakes was the co-founder and partner for Halo Elite, where he advised C-suite executives and elite athletes. Throughout his career, he held various senior level positions within the legal field in public and private sectors, including the general counsel of an automotive supplier, an attorney with the General Motors Corporation, an attorney with the SEC, and an Air Force Judge Advocate. He also served as executive vice president of Meijer, Inc. leading its legal, IT, real estate, construction, and procurement departments.
Noakes holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Notre Dame, and a Master of Arts degree and a Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Chicago.
