New Millennium Iron Announces New Member of Board of Directors
12/16/2013 - New Millennium Iron Corp. (NML) announced that Mr. Partha Sengupta, vice president of raw materials, including Global Minerals, at Tata Steel Limited, has recently resigned as a director of the corporation, due to the recent changes in organizational structure of the Tata Steel Group.
Lee Nichols, non-executive chairman of NML, commented: “New Millennium thanks Mr. Sengupta for his advice and guidance on the development of Tata Steel Minerals Canada Limited (TSMC), the Direct Shipping Ore Joint Venture with NML, and on the joint feasibility study (Tata-NML) for the Taconite Project Development.”
Mr. Dibyendu Bose, group director (investments and new ventures) with Tata Steel with effect from 1 November 2013, has been appointed to the NML Board as a replacement for Mr. Sengupta.
Mr. Nichols commented: “NML is delighted to have Mr. Bose join our board. He brings a wealth of experience in international logistics and trading to NML’s board.”
Mr. Dibyendu Bose is an engineer from Indian School of Mines and a post graduate from the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta. He has worked with the International Trading Division of Tata Steel since its inception and was instrumental in starting the Chartering Division of Tata Steel in 1992. He served as Tata Steel’s West Asia representative from 1997 to 2001 in Dubai and chief of M&S of Tata Pipes from 2001 to 2004. He has been with the Tata Steel Group for the last 28 years in various capacities. In 2002, he was also nominated by Tata Steel for the CEDEP Executive Development program in Insead, France, and also attended the Tata Group Strategic Leadership Seminar in 2005.
He held the post of managing director of TM International Logistics Limited (TMILL), a joint venture company of Tata Steel Ltd, NYK Holding (Europe) BV & IQ Martrade of Germany, from 2006 to 2013. TMILL’s arena of services includes shipping, port operations, freight forwarding, harbor services and cha & inland logistics.
Mr. Bose is the current chairman of CII Urbanization and Future City Subcommittee and the past chairman of the CII Infrastructure & Shipping Sub Committee. He is also an Executive Committee member of the Indian Chamber of Commerce, besides being a board member of Dhamra Port Company Ltd.
New Millennium Corporation controls the emerging Millennium Iron Range, located in the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador and in the Province of Quebec, which holds one of the world’s largest undeveloped magnetic iron ore deposits. In the same area, the corporation and Tata Steel Limited, one of the largest steel producers in the world, have advanced a Direct Shipping Ore Project to the production stage, from which commercial sales will soon begin. Tata Steel owns approximately 26.3% of New Millennium and is the corporation’s largest shareholder and strategic partner.
