U.S., Canadian Steel Shipment Growth Rate Slows in April

19 May 2011 - The rate of growth of steel shipments from metals service centers in the United States and Canada slowed during April, according to the latest Metals Activity Report from MSCI. Steel shipments from U.S. and Canadian service centers rose 11.3% and 4.5% during the month, respectively.

Stainless Imports through February More than 50% Higher than YTD 2010

18 May 2011 - Total stainless imports reached 126,885 tons in YTD February 2011, a 51.4% increase compared to YTD February 2010 according to the latest report from SSINA. Total specialty imports (comprising stainless steel, alloy tool steel and electrical steel) over the same period were 166,205 tons, a 56.1% increase.
