March Steel Shipments up 14.9% from February
05/18/2011 - U.S. steel mills shipped 8,006,015 net tons for the month of March 2011, a 14.9% increase from the 6,967,481 net tons shipped in the previous month, according to the latest report from AISI.
U.S. steel mills shipped 8,006,015 net tons for the month of March 2011, according to the latest report from the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI).
The March total represents a 14.9% increase from the 6,967,481 net tons shipped in the previous month, February 2011, and a 4.7% increase from the 7,646,938 net tons shipped in March 2010.
Year-to-date shipments are 22,502,151 net tons, a 9.6% increase vs. shipments of 20,537,822 for comparable year-ago period. 2011 shipments through March would annualize at 90 million tons.
A month-to-month comparison of shipments shows the following changes:
· Hot dip galvanized sheet and strip, + 19%
· Hot rolled sheet, + 14%
· Cold rolled sheet, + 13%
