Severstal Columbus Receives Best Practices Award

East Mississippi Community College (EMCC) has presented Severstal Columbus with a second Best Practices Award.

The award recognizes organizations that provide outstanding examples of workforce training, quality management and business practices and can serve as models for others.

Severstal Columbus previously won a Best Practices Award in 2009. Last year, the company also received the Director’s Award, which is EMCC’s top honor for excellence in workforce training, management and world-class processes.

“We are delighted to be recognized by EMCC with this award,” commented Wilbur Winland, Vice President and General Manager, Severstal Columbus. “It is a validation of our efforts and commitment to this community. We are thankful to all our employees, customers, suppliers and community leaders for their loyalty and support as we strive to build a world-class mini-mill operation.”

Severstal Columbus was presented with the award during the college’s 22nd annual Industry Appreciation Luncheon, which honors companies for their contributions to the economic vitality of the Golden Triangle area.
