Steel Import Permits Down 11% in September
06 October 2011 - Steel import permit applications reached 2,221,000 net tons for the month of September, an 11% decrease from the 2,481,000 permit tons recorded in August according to the latest report from AISI.
Preliminary Steel Imports Decline 7% in August
28 September 2011 - The U.S. imported a total of 2,440,000 net tons of steel in August, down 7% from July final data according to the latest report from AISI. Finished steel imports were down 13% over the same period.
Stainless Imports up 39% through YTD June 2011
12 September 2011 - Total stainless imports reached 406,269 tons through YTD June 2011, 39.2% increase compared to YTD June 2010 according to the latest report from SSINA. Total specialty steel imports (comprising stainless steel, alloy tool steel and electrical steel) reached 514,354 tons through the same period, a 38.3% increase compared to YTD June 2010.

08 September 2011 - Steel import permit applications reached 2,446,000 net tons for the month of August, a 3% decrease from the 2,520,000 permit tons recorded in July according to the latest report from AISI.
Stainless Imports up 42% through YTD May 2011
29 August 2011 - Total stainless steel imports reached 335,588 tons through YTD May 2011, a 42.4% increase compared to YTD May 2010 according to the latest report from SSINA. Total specialty steel imports reached 427,616 tons through the same period, a 41.8% increase compared to YTD May 2010.
Preliminary Finished Steel Imports Decline 4% in July
25 August 2011 - The U.S. imported a total of 2,584,000 net tons of steel in July, down 5% from June final data, according to the latest report from AISI. Finished steel imports were down 4% over the same period.

04 August 2011 - Steel import permit applications reached 2,447,000 net tons for the month of July, a 13% decrease from the 2,797,000 permit tons recorded in June according to the latest report from AISI.
Preliminary Finished Steel Imports Increase 5% in June
29 July 2011 - The U.S. imported 2,110,000 net tons of finished steel in June, up 5% from May final data according to the latest report from AISI.
Stainless Imports up 43% through YTD April
22 July 2011 - Total stainless steel imports reached 262,705 tons through YTD April 2011, a 43.0% increase compared to YTD April 2010 according to the latest report from SSINA. Total specialty steel imports reached 336,236 tons through the same period, a 43.6% increase compared to YTD April 2010.

07 July 2011 - Steel import applications reached 2,734,000 net tons for the month of June, a 2% increase from the May preliminary imports total of 2,692,000 net tons according to the latest report from AISI.

Stainless Imports up More than 50% Through YTD March 2011
17 June 2011 - Total stainless imports reached 198,619 ton through YTD March 2011, a 50.6% increase compared to YTD March 2010 according to the latest report from SSINA. Total specialty imports reached in 255,551 tons over the same period, a 53.9% increase compared to YTD March 2010.

Stainless Imports through February More than 50% Higher than YTD 2010
18 May 2011 - Total stainless imports reached 126,885 tons in YTD February 2011, a 51.4% increase compared to YTD February 2010 according to the latest report from SSINA. Total specialty imports (comprising stainless steel, alloy tool steel and electrical steel) over the same period were 166,205 tons, a 56.1% increase.

Stainless, Specialty Imports Finish 2010 Nearly 70% Above 2009
25 March 2011 - Total stainless imports reached 662,695 tons in YTD December 2010, a 69.6% increase compared to the comparable year-ago period, according to the latest report from SSINA. Total specialty imports reached 842,055 tons through the same period, a 70.4% increase compared to last year.
