Gerdau Ameristeel to Acquire North Star Steel Assets

10 September 2004 - Gerdau Ameristeel Corp. announced that its U.S. operating subsidiary, Gerdau Ameristeel US Inc., has entered into definitive agreements with Cargill, Inc. to purchase the fixed assets and working capital of North Star Steel for $266 million in cash. The purchase price is subject to adjustment for working capital fluctuations prior to the closing date.
