California Steel Reports Record Results for 2004
26 January 2005 - California Steel Industries, Inc. (CSI) reported net income of $35.1 million on sales of $339.8 million for the fourth quarter, and net income of $109.34 million on sales of $1.250 billion for the full year of 2004, both record results for the company, now in its twentieth year of operations.
AK Steel Reports Full Year 2004 Results
26 January 2005 - AK Steel reported adjusted 2004 fourth quarter pre-tax income of $73.7 million on record net sales of $1,433.8 million.
2004 Finished Steel Imports 55 Percent Higher than 2003
26 January 2005 - Based on preliminary Census Bureau data for December, the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) reported that the United States imported a total of 35,662,000 net tons of steel in 2004, reflecting a 54.2% increase over 2003 total steel imports.
AK Steel Announces New Senior Vice Presidents
25 January 2005 - AK Steel has named David C. Horn and John F. Kaloski Senior Vice Presidents. Mr. Horn is the corporation’s General Counsel and Secretary, and Mr. Kaloski oversees the corporation’s safety, operations, quality assurance, engineering, purchasing and supply chain management functions.

25 January 2005 - United States Steel Corp. reported fourth quarter net income of $462 million on revenues of $3890 million, and full year net income of $1085 million on revenues of $13,969 million.
EPA Region 5 Issues Administrative Order, Citation
24 January 2005 - U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Region 5 has issued an administrative consent order to Rotary Lift that requires the company to comply with the state operating permit issued to its Madison, Ind., metal fabrication facility. Rotary Lift had told EPA that it believed it had violated its permit.
Carpenter Technology Reports 2nd Quarter Results

2004 Steel Shipments Ahead by 7.6 Percent through November
18 January 2005 - U.S. steel mills shipped 9,032,000 net tons in November 2004, according to the latest data released by the American Iron and Steel Institute. November shipments reflect a 6.4% increase from the 8,485,000 net tons shipped in November 2003, and a 3.2% decrease from the 9,326,000 net tons shipped in the previous month, October 2004. For the first eleven months of 2004, steel shipments were 103,797,000 net tons, representing a 7.6% increase from the 96,509,000 net tons shipped during the same period in 2003.
