Ferrolux Metals Co. of Ohio, LLC has recently purchased a Single Loop Precision Class 1 Automotive Slitting Line from Herr-Voss Stamco.

The line will process coils measuring up to 78-inch wide and up to 110,000 pounds at a maximum speed of 1200 feet/minute. Strip thickness will range from 0.015 to 0.135 inch.

Ferrolux’s new line will have many attributes to enhance product quality and operating efficiency, including DC drives throughout, pup coil unloader, strobe inspection system, and entry and exit shears. The line will also include a thickness gauge, double eccentric slitters with powered head changer, a high-capacity scrap baller, Synchro-Wind strand tensioner, a four-compartment GFG electrostatic oiler, gatling-gun separator tooling changers and exit coil scale. Line automation features include sonar uncoiler and recoiler diameter detection, auto slow down/stop, and auto tail out. Touch screen diagnostics are also provided.

The line will be designed to allow the future addition of a Strand Extensioner® and a slitter tooling capstan.

The line is scheduled for installation during the 4th quarter of 2005.
