AISI: Import Market Share in U.S. at 23% in April
01 May 2013 - The American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) reported that steel import permit applications for the month of April total 2,576,000 tons. This was a 3% decrease from the 2,650,000 permit tons recorded in March but up by 4% from the March preliminary imports total of 2,476,000 tons.
USW, ArcelorMittal Resolve Burns Harbor Safety Dispute
26 April 2013 - A safety dispute that idled blast furnaces and some other operations at ArcelorMittal's Burns Harbor mill has been resolved after two days of intense negotiations between union officials and management, the Northwest Indiana Times reports.

26 April 2013 - The American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) reported that the U.S. imported a total of 2,476,000 tons of steel in March, including 1,967,000 tons of finished steel (down 1% and up 4%, respectively, vs. February final data).
