MSCI: North American Service Center Shipment Decline Accelerates
04/16/2013 - Metal shipments in March 2013 decreased at rates that were greater than the declines registered in January and February, the Metals Service Center Institute reported.

U.S. Service Center Activity
Steel shipments from U.S. service centers decreased 9.9% from March 2012. Steel product inventories decreased by 4.2% from March a year ago.
Aluminum shipments decreased 13.8% in March from the same month in 2012. Inventories of aluminum products decreased by 3.1% from last March.
Canadian Service Center Activity
Canadian service center steel shipments in March 2013 decreased 18.0% from the same month in 2012. Steel product inventories increased by 1.1% from March a year ago and decreased by 2.2% from last month.
Aluminum shipments decreased by 10.2% from the same month in 2012. Inventories of aluminum products, at the end of March, increased by 7.2% compared with March a year ago.
