22 February 2011 - World crude steel production for the 66 countries reporting to the World Steel Association stood at an estimated 119 million tonnes for January 2011 — 2.8% higher than the previous month (December 2010) and 5.3% higher in comparison with January 2010.

17 February 2011 - The Department of Commerce has issued an affirmative preliminary circumvention ruling determining that Chinese imports of cut-to-length carbon steel plate that include insignificant amounts of boron are subject to the antidumping duty order on CTL plate.

Commerce to Issue AD, CVD Orders on Drill Pipe, Drill Collars from China

08 February 2011 - The U.S. ITC has determined that a U.S. industry is threatened with material injury due to imports of drill pipe and drill collars from China that the U.S. Department of Commerce has determined are subsidized and sold in the United States at less than fair value.

USITC to Conduct Full Sunset Reviews on CTL Steel Plate from Five Countries

07 February 2011 - The U.S. ITC has voted to conduct full five- year "sunset" reviews on countervailing duty orders on cut-to-length carbon steel plate from India, Indonesia, Italy, and Korea, and antidumping duty orders on cut-to-length carbon steel plate from India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, and Korea.

Total, Finished Steel Import Permits Up 8.6%, 11% in January

03 February 2011 - Steel import permit applications reached a total of 2,011,000 net tons for the month of January, an 8.6% increase from the 1,852,000 permit tons recorded in December according to the latest report from AISI.

Full-year production, at 1395.46 million tonnes, reflects a 15.2% increase over 2009.

15 December 2010 - Total stainless steel imports reached 463,783 tons in YTD September 2010, a 72.6% increase compared to the comparable year-ago period according to the latest report from SSINA. Total specialty steel — stainless, alloy tool and electrical steel — reached 593,200 tons through the same period, a 69.9% increase.
