Sudisa Names Tenaris "Excellent Supplier for 2012"

Super Diesel SA de CV (Sudisa), recognized Tenaris for a combination of defect-free material measured in PPM (parts per million rejected), on-time delivery and quantity compliance in the supply of tubes for its trailer axles. During 2012, Tenaris delivered nearly 105,000 pieces to Sudisa’s facility in Guadalajara, Mexico.
Tenaris has been supplying Sudisa since early 2000 and is currently providing long-length seamless hot rolled tubes including quenched and tempered products in different sizes: 5” OD tubes with several wall thicknesses, in SAE 1030 steel grade.
Zero-defect performance has proven to be a key factor in Sudisa’s trailer axle performance. Sudisa forms Tenaris tubes into an axle shape by machining the ends to receive wheel bearings and weld on some basic components, so it’s ready to receive the brake drums and to be fixed to the chassis. Tenaris’s products with low inclusion content grant lightness and good fatigue resistance, coupled with a defect-free surface ensuring structural consistency to Sudisa’s product.
Sudisa provides Tenaris monthly releases showing the material that needs to be produced based on production requirements. Accordingly, tubes are then shipped from the plant in Veracruz through a consignment stock at the customer’s facility in Tlaquepaque for immediate use. This procedure allows the customer to benefit by reducing inventories and transit time.
Sudisa has been operating in Mexico since 1952 manufacturing trailer axles for the Mexican and U.S. markets. In April 2003, Sudisa became 50/50 owned by Quimmco Group of Mexico and Meritor, the biggest trailer axle manufacturer in the U.S. Since then, it has been marketing its products to the Nafta market under the name Armex (ArvinMeritor CVS de México S.A. de C.V.).
