Metinvest Prepares to Launch PCI at Ilyich Steel

10 April 2012 - Ilyich Iron & Steel Works of Mariupol is close to finishing the construction and erection works and installation of the power system to support the PCI (pulverized coal injection) plant. In early May, the company plans to test the facility, and in July, process tests with injection of the fuel in blast furnaces are scheduled.

06 April 2012 - SunCoke Energy, Inc. reported preliminary first quarter 2012 U.S. coke production of 1,072 thousand tons, an estimated increase of 211,000 tons, or 25%, compared to the same period in 2011. Its total U.S. coke-making capacity utilization was 100% in first quarter 2012 versus 95% a year ago.

Finished Steel Imports up 13% in March

05 April 2012 - The U.S. imported a total of 3,144,000 net tons of steel in March, up 22% from February final data, according to the latest report from AISI. Finished steel imports were up 21% over the same period.
