ThyssenKrupp Steel Europe Receives Order for Tailored Tempering
28 June 2010 - ThyssenKrupp Umformtechnik GmbH, a subsidiary of the Duisburg-based steel producer, has received an order from a German automaker to produce B-pillars by tailored tempering, which produces parts that are very strong yet also able to yield in specific areas.
Leadership Change at Tata Steel Europe
28 June 2010 - Effective from October 1, 2010, Kirby Adams will hand over responsibility for the leadership of Tata Steel Europe to Dr. Karl-Ulrich Köhler, who will become Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer. Adams will remain available to Tata Steel in an advisory capacity.

Siemens to Renovate Blast Furnace 1 for ArcelorMittal Tubarão
25 June 2010 - ArcelorMittal Tubarão has commissioned Siemens VAI Metals Technologies to renovate blast furnace 1 at its Tubarão Works in Brazil. Siemens will dismantle and rebuild within a shutdown period of 80 days.
Siemens VAI to Supply Rod Mill to Taihan Electric
24 June 2010 - Siemens VAI Metals Technologies has received an order from the Southwire Co. to supply a copper rod rolling mill and the associated coil handling system. The end customer is Taihan Electric Wire Co. Ltd. of Seoul, Korea. The new mill will be delivered by the end of 2010.
Ruukki to Supply Steel Piles for Harbor Projects in Western Europe
24 June 2010 - Ruukki has agreed to a number of steel pipe pile deliveries for harbor construction projects in the Netherlands, France, and the U.K., including for two combi walls for BAVO Kademuren, the subcontractor for the quay walls for a land reclamation project in the North Sea.

23 June 2010 - JSW Steel has opened its fourth JSW Shoppe outlet in the southern state of Andhra Pradesh, in Hyderabad city. The company operates a total of 174 JSW Shoppe outlets through its dealers and plans to open 600 retail outlets by 2012.
Siemens to Modernize Slab Steel Works in Indonesia
22 June 2010 - Siemens has received an order from PT Krakatau Steel of Cilegon, Indonesia, to completely modernize its slab steel works no. 1. The modernized works is scheduled to come into production in the summer of 2012.
May World Crude Steel Output up 2.9% from Previous Month
22 June 2010 - World crude steel production for the 66 countries reporting to the World Steel Association stood at an estimated 124.18 million tonnes in May 2010 — a 2.1% increase from the previous month (April 2010) and a 29.1% increase vs. May 2009.
Posco Buys Stake in Chinese Rear-Earth Metal Producer
21 June 2010 - Posco-China and Korean Resources Corp. have acquired a 60% stake in Yongxin Rare Earth Metal Co. The two companies plan to renovate production facilities at the Chinese company by November to produce 1000 tonnes of neodymium and as much NdFeB each year.
Posco to Build Distribution Center in India
21 June 2010 - Posco recently had a groundbreaking ceremony for Posco-ISDC, the new distribution center for the Indian market being built near Dighi Port, Maharashtra State. Scheduled to open in December, Posco-ISDC is expected to handle 360,000 tonnes of steel products a year.

18 June 2010 - Evraz Group has launched reconstruction of the rail mill at NTMK, its Russian steel plant in Nizhny Tagil, Urals. The project will expand the mill’s annual capacity to 550,000 tonnes.
