01 June 2010 - Posco is holding a series of technology fairs mainly aimed at its Japanese customers that manufacture automotive products. The steelmaker plans to introduce its global sales network and the various auto parts made of its steel products at these fairs.

Nippon Steel, Kobe Steel to Jointly Recycle Steel Mill Dust into DRI
27 May 2010 - Nippon Steel Corp. and Kobe Steel, Ltd. plan to begin construction of a plant to recycle steel mill dust into direct reduced iron (DRI). Treatment capacity will be approximately 220,000 tonnes per year; planned start-up is October 2011.
ArcelorMittal Donates to Sept-Iles Cegep
27 May 2010 - ArcelorMittal is contributing $800,000 for the construction of a new building wing devoted to metallurgy and technological transfer in industrial maintenance. The new wing will be named the ArcelorMittal Institute of Mineral Technology.

Henan Jiyuan Orders Wire Rod Outlet from Siemens VAI
25 May 2010 - The Henan Jiyuan Iron & Steel (Group) Co., Ltd. has ordered a wire rod outlet from Siemens VAI Metals Technologies for its first imported rod mill that will produce higher-quality steel grade products for the company. The project is scheduled for completion by late 2011.
Posco Selected as Preferred Bidder for Daewoo International
25 May 2010 - The Public Fund Oversight Committee recently held meetings at the Korea Deposit Insurance Corp. with the Sales Review Subcommittee and selected Posco as the final preferred bidder for Daewoo International. Posco plans to utilize all cash assets to take over the creditor’s shares of 68.15% without external loans.
Ruukki to Deliver Suction Anchors, Offshore Steels to Aker Solutions
24 May 2010 - Ruukki has signed an agreement with Aker Solutions of Norway to supply 24 suction anchors in September 2010 from its Kalajoki unit in Finland. Ruukki also has supplied offshore steels for the same project.
SMS Mevac to Supply Ladle Met Center for OMZ Plant at Kolpino
24 May 2010 - Forpost Management has commissioned SMS Mevac to plan and deliver key components for a ladle metallurgical center that is to be integrated into the OMZ plant at Kolpino. The center will include a 120-tonne ladle furnace and two tank degassing units.
April World Crude Steel Output Nearly 36% above Last Year
21 May 2010 - World crude steel production for the 66 countries reporting to the World Steel Association stood at an estimated 121.65 million tonnes in April 2010 — a 0.4% decrease from the previous month (March 2010) and a 35.7% increase vs. April 2009.
