Tata Steel Europe Appoints Chief Technical Officer

Tata Steel Europe has appointed Uday Chaturvedi as the company's Chief Technical Officer, effective October 1, 2010.
 
In his new position, Chaturvedi will be responsible for Tata Steel Europe's proposed new manufacturing hubs, reporting directly to the Tata Steel Europe Managing Director and CEO. He will also join the company's Executive Committee.
 
Chaturvedi has held a number of high-level operational positions during his career with the Tata Steel Group. He previously served as Vice-President Coke, Sinter and Iron and TQM in Jamshedpur prior to becoming Managing Director of Corus Strip Products UK in 2008.
 
The company noted that a replacement as head of Strip Products in the UK would be announced in due course.
 
Corus (whose legal name is Tata Steel Europe) is Europe's second largest steel producer. With main steelmaking operations primarily in the UK and the Netherlands, Corus supplies steel and related services to the construction, automotive, packaging, mechanical engineering and other markets worldwide.
 
Corus is a subsidiary of Tata Steel, one of the world’s top ten steel producers. The combined enterprise has an aggregate crude steel capacity of more than 28 million tonnes and approximately 80,000 employees across four continents.
