18 October 2011 - ОАО Severstal launched a major environmental project aimed at reducing atmospheric emissions at the Cherepovets Steel Mill. It signed an agreement with Siemens VAI Metals Technologies to supply and install a sophisticated system for capturing emissions from plant converters, to be installed over the next four years.

Air Liquide to Supply New Air Separation Units for Posco E&C

18 October 2011 - Air Liquide signed a contract with Posco E&C, the Engineering and Construction division of Posco, to design and build two large air separation units, each of which will have an oxygen production capacity of 3750 tonnes per day.

17 October 2011 - Chinese steel producer Shanxi Zhongyang Iron and Steel Co. Ltd. contracted with Siemens VAI Metals Technologies to add a high-speed mini finishing mill to each of its three rod mills. Commissioning is expected in late 2012.

17 October 2011 - ОАО Severstal has begun to supply rolled metal for making a front roof panel for the new Kia Rio model. It previously had reached an agreement for the Hyundai Solaris sedan and hatchback. Through nine months of 2011, Severstal has delivered more than 4500 tonnes of rolled metal to the Hyundai plant in St. Petersburg.
