ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih Makes Temporary Management Changes

ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih announced the appointment of Gonzalo Urquijo as CEO. The board of directors made the decision to appoint Urquijo, GMB Member and Executive Vice President of ArcelorMittal, during the board meeting that took place on October 13, 2011.
 
In his new position, Urquijo, who is responsible for the entire Africa and CIS segment of ArcelorMittal business, will be directly managing operations of ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih plant until the new CEO is appointed.
 
ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih’s previous CEO, Rinat Starkov, will continue his career in ArcelorMittal on the corporate level.

“I would like to thank Rinat Starkov for his dedication and his impressive achievements over slightly more than one year that he had been working as a CEO,” said Gonzalo Urquijo. “During this period a comprehensive transformation program has been launched with the overall target to improve the efficiency of the plant and to make it more competitive.
 
“Among his main achievements – productive and continuous dialog with the local and national authorities, signing of the additional agreement to the SPA about ending of the force majeure clause as of January 2012, added Urquijo. “In less than one year of working at ArcelorMittal, Starkov has been appointed to Management Committee. I would like to wish Rinat Starkov success in his further career in our Group.

“ArcelorMittal’s strategy regarding its Ukrainian business remains consistent and unchanged: we continue modernization program and are looking forward to launching our first CCM within the next months, finalizing our social obligations this year and continuing further development the plant”.
