Busse, President and CEO of Steel Dynamics Inc. was named “Steelmaker of the Year” at AISTech 2005 — The Iron & Steel Technology Conference and Exposition, managed by the Association for Iron & Steel Technology. The Steelmaker of the Year Award is presented annually by the AIST to recognize notable leaders and their contributions to the steel industry.

27 April 2005 - United States Steel Corp. reported net income of $455 million on net sales of $3.76 billion for the first quarter of 2005.

Year-to-Date Steel Import Totals Continue to Rise

01 April 2005 - The United States imported a total of 2,361,000 net tons of steel in February according to the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI). The AISI report, which is based on preliminary Census Bureau data, shows the import totals include 1,727,000 net tons of finished steel.

USS To Build Automotive Hot Dip Galv Line in Slovakia

U. S. Steel Endorses Michigan Tax Package

22 February 2005 - United States Steel Corp. announced its support of Gov. Jennifer Granholm's major reform of the Single Business Tax (SBT), saying the package, as proposed by the governor, would create an incentive for manufacturers to invest in the state, help stem the state's loss of high-paying manufacturing jobs, and boost the security of the 2,400 jobs at the company's Great Lakes Works in Ecorse and River Rouge.
