Preliminary U.S. Steel Imports Decline 2% from September to October
28 November 2012 - Based on preliminary Census Bureau data, the American Iron and Steel Institute reported that the U.S. imported a total of 2,540,000 tons of steel in October, including 2,059,000 tons of finished steel (down 2% and up 3%, respectively, from September final data).

Judge Approves RG Steel Retention Plan
21 November 2012 - A Delaware bankruptcy judge on Tuesday approved a request by failed steelmaker RG Steel to pay $767,000 under a retention program to keep about 20 key employees on the job through the end of the year as the company finishes liquidating its assets, according to Bloomberg Businessweek.

19 November 2012 - The Specialty Steel Industry of North America has released statistical data on imports, U.S. consumption, and import penetration for YTD August 2012, commenting that it is particularly tracking remarkable growth in imports of stainless plate, which are up nearly 31% over 2011 levels.
AISI: September Steel Shipments Down 13.7% from August
16 November 2012 - The American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) reported today that for the month of September 2012, U.S. steel mills shipped 7,233,375 tons, a 13.7% decrease from the 8,377,162 tons shipped in the previous month.
