Tenova Re Energy to Supply Hyundai Steel with Irecovery Systems for Two EAFs

07 March 2012 - Tenova Re Energy has signed a contract with Hyundai Steel for the supply of two iRecovery systems for the company’s plant in Incheon, South Korea. They will help to recover lost heat from the off-gases of a 90-ton EAF and an 80-ton EAF.

27 February 2012 - ArcelorMittal Ostrava reports that around 500 households in the town of Vratimov, which has a population of nearly 7000 inhabitants, are heated ecologically by its waste heat. As a result, Vratimov was able to shut down all of its boiler stations burning fossil fuels.

Outokumpu Reports Radiation Incident at Tornio Site

27 February 2012 - Outokumpu's Tornio melting furnace was recently exposed to a source of radiation that has since been identified as americium. Four meltshop employees were exposed to radiation as they entered the melting furnace during maintenance work.

Siemens Delivers Secondary Dedusting System for Severstal Converter

22 February 2012 - Siemens VAI Metal Technologies received an order from OAO Severstal to install a secondary dedusting system in the converter steelmaking plant at the Cherepovets production site. The new secondary dedusting system is scheduled to go into operation in mid-2015.

Baosteel Cuts SO2 Emissions by 50% in Four Years

16 February 2012 - According to its latest statistics, Baosteel Co., Ltd. has cut total SO2 emissions by over 50% since 2008. Its SO2 emissions in 2008 exceeded 30,000 tonnes, while in 2011 the emission was 15,000 tonnes.
