Stainless, Specialty Imports Still Down More than 50% through October
18 January 2010 - Total stainless imports reached 308,874 tons through October 2009, a 52.5% decrease compared to YTD October 2008 according to the latest report from SSINA. Total specialty imports reached 396,033 tons through the same period, a 52.5% decrease compared to YTD October 2008.

14 January 2010 - Lakeside Steel Inc. has increased production on its Stretch Reduction Mill by adding production shifts to meet stronger demand for its OCTG products. The company has also recalled all of its temporarily laid-off employees, returning to full employment for the first time since November 2008.

SSINA Data Shows Stainless Steel Imports, Consumption Down
11 January 2010 - Imports of total stainless steel in YTD September 2009 were 268,732 tons, a 54.9% decrease compared to the same period of 2008, according to data recently released by The Specialty Steel Industry of North America (SSINA). U.S. consumption was 991,809 tons, down 34.3%.
