14 January 2010 - Lakeside Steel Inc. has increased production on its Stretch Reduction Mill by adding production shifts to meet stronger demand for its OCTG products. The company has also recalled all of its temporarily laid-off employees, returning to full employment for the first time since November 2008.

SSINA Data Shows Stainless Steel Imports, Consumption Down
11 January 2010 - Imports of total stainless steel in YTD September 2009 were 268,732 tons, a 54.9% decrease compared to the same period of 2008, according to data recently released by The Specialty Steel Industry of North America (SSINA). U.S. consumption was 991,809 tons, down 34.3%.

Steel Import Permits Decline 9% in December
07 January 2010 - Steel import permit applications reached 1,326,000 net tons for the month of December, a 9% decrease from the 1,450,000 permit tons recorded in November 2009, according to the latest report from AISI.

07 January 2010 - Worthington Industries, Inc. reports net sales of $448.0 million and net earnings of $23.2 million, or $0.29 per diluted share, for the fiscal 2010 second quarter ended November 30, 2009. The results show sequential improvement from the first quarter.
