Severstal Names New CEO for Severstal International, Severstal NA
07/24/2009 - OAO Severstal announces the appointment of Sergei Kuznetsov as CEO of Severstal International and Severstal North America, replacing Gregory Mason, who will be leaving the company.
OAO Severstal announced the appointment of Sergei Kuznetsov as CEO of Severstal International and Severstal North America, replacing Gregory Mason, who will be leaving the company.
The company also appointed Alexey Kulichenko to replace Kuznetsov as CFO of OAO Severstal. Prior to this appointment, Kulichenko had served as CFO of Severstal Resources. The changes will be effective July 29, 2009.
"We thank Gregory for the contributions he has made to the development of Severstal's international businesses, and we wish him well in the future,” commented Alexey Mordashov, Chief Executive of OAO Severstal.

Kuznetsov joined Severstal in 2002 to head the Business Planning Group created to acquire foreign assets and develop international projects. He was later appointed as Chief Financial Officer of Severstal North America (Severstal Dearborn, 2004) and Chief Financial Officer of OAO Severstal (2008). Kuznetsov graduated from Bauman Moscow State Technical University, and holds an MBA in finance from California State University.
Kulichenko joined Severstal in 2005 as CFO of Severstal Resources. Prior to joining the company, Alexey held leading management positions at Sun Interbrew and Unimilk. He graduated from Omsk Institute of World Economy with a degree in economics.
Mason has served as CEO of Severstal International from the time that OAO Severstal reorganized its businesses in April 2008. At the time, the newly formed division comprised Lucchini Group, Severstal North America, and SeverCorr. Prior to joining Severstal in 2004, Mason held positions at Detroit Steel, Caparo Steel, Davy International, and KRUPP Industries.
