Worthington Steel Replaces Rolling Mill Gauges
10/06/2016 - IMS Systems Inc., a maker of x-ray, isotope and optical measuring systems, has installed two thickness gauges on the 56-inch cold reversing mill at Worthington Steel’s facility in Cuyahoga Heights, Ohio, the company has announced.
The gauges, one each at the entry and exit, provide feedback to the mill control system.
“Worthington made the investment to replace outdated gauges containing parts that were no longer available. By using IMS gauges, the Cleveland facility is experiencing reductions in re-work and scrap, as well as increased equipment uptime, through improved processing and quality control capabilities,” the company said in a statement.
To date, IMS has installed five x-ray gauges at the facility and has an order for three more, which are to be installed soon.
