WorldAutoSteel Launches Free Online Resource for AHSS Applications
09/22/2021 - WorldAutoSteel, a division of the World Steel Association, have released the latest version of its AHSS Applications Guidelines as an online resource to help automotive manufacturers understand and capitalize on the benefits of advanced high-strength steels (AHSS).
The AHSS Applications Guidelines Version 7.0, available for free at ahssinsights.org, includes a searchable keyword database and hundreds of pages of resources on the metallurgy and application of AHSS grades within the automotive sector.
“More and more automakers are turning to AHSS to balance the needs for crashworthiness, lighter weight and lower emissions, while still manufacturing cars that are affordable,” George Coates, technical director for WorldAutoSteel, said in a statement.
“The AHSS Application Guidelines provides critical knowledge that will help users adapt their manufacturing environment to these evolving steels and understand processes and technologies that lead to efficient vehicle structures.”
The AHSS Application Guidelines is the flagship product of WorldAutoSteel and its member companies, which comprise 20 leading global automotive steel producers. “These Guidelines contain knowledge gleaned from global research and experience, including significant investment of our members who are the designers and manufacturers of these steels,” said WorldAutoSteel director Cees ten Brock.
The new online AHSS Application Guidelines will be updated annually to accommodate the latest AHSS research and development, and users can subscribe to receive free updates.
