Wheatland Tube Introduces HDZ Coat
03/03/2025 - Wheatland Tube announced it will now call its five-step galvanization process HDZ Coat™, giving engineers and contractors full traceability and compliance with American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) standards.
According to a press release, the five steps include a dedicated pipe acid bath, 99.995% pure zinc application, air knife smoothing, inside pipe blowout and passivation application.
“With HDZ Coat, Wheatland Tube goes the extra mile to eliminate the pain that engineers and contactors feel with every piece of returned inventory or project claims,” said Kevin Kelly, president of standard pipe at Wheatland Tube.
The company said HDZ Coat is used in its standard and fire sprinkler pipes for fluid, water and gas to prevent early rust and stop microbial contamination. The entire process is completed fully in-house at Wheatland Tube.
“By controlling the entire process for HDZ Coat in-house, we eliminate those pain points with fully compliant pipe that also prevents early rust and eliminates microbial contamination,” Kelly said.
