WCI Steel Announces Vice President Operations

June 20, 2006 — WCI Steel, Inc. has named Michael T. Adams Vice President — Operations, effective immediately.
Adams comes to WCI with more than 22 years of steel industry experience, serving in managerial and officer-level positions and overseeing steel production and commercial operations at AK Steel Corp. Most recently, Adams owned MTA Business Solutions, a consulting firm in West Chester, Ohio.
“Mike's broad background will be invaluable to WCI as we work to build our company into a strong, independent custom flat-rolled producer,” said Patrick G. Tatom, WCI's President and CEO. “We are fortunate to have someone with Mike's expertise join the WCI team.”
Adams, 48, held numerous senior management positions at AK Steel from 1981 to 2003, including Senior Vice President; Vice President—Sales and Marketing; Vice President—Manufacturing; and General Manager—Manufacturing, of both the Middletown and Ashland works.
He earned a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from The Ohio State University in 1981.
WCI is an integrated steelmaker producing more than 185 grades of custom and commodity flat-rolled steel at its Warren, Ohio facility. WCI's products are used by steel service centers, convertors and the automotive and construction markets. The company has approximately 1,500 employees.
