VSW Mounts New Coating Line for Large Diameter Pipes
08/22/2014 - Vyksa Steel Works (VSW Open Joint Stock Company, based in Nizhny Novgorod, Russia, part of United Metallurgical Company, OMK CJSC, Moscow) has started installing new equipment for the first line of anti-corrosion coating for large diameter pipes (LDP).
The entire set of the main technological equipment has been delivered by Selmers (Netherlands). At the same time, work on expanding the anti-corrosion facility is underway; this is will allow ready products to be shipped. The planned capacity of the external coating line is 750 square meters per hour. The commissioning and the production of the first coated pipe are scheduled for October 2014, and the beginning of industrial operations is planned for the first quarter of 2015. Over 2 billion rubles will be invested into the project.
“The reconstruction of the first line for coating LDPs is one of the factory’s top priority investment projects. The new equipment will enable us to capitalize on VSW’s possibilities for pipe insulation and will ensure high quality coating to meet all the current requirements from clients,” said Sergey Filippov, executive director at VSW.
VSW’s anti-corrosion facility currently operates three external coating lines and one internal coating line.
