Vallourec Commissions Hydrostatic Pipe Tester
09/08/2016 - Tubemaker Vallourec and the Fives engineering group have commissioned a high-pressure hydrostatic pipe tester at Vallourec’s plant in Düsseldorf, Germany.
In a statement, Fives said the new tester is able to test pipe beyond the standard API grades – up to premium Cr13 pipes at more than 1,250 bar, or 18,130 psi. Fives said the tester can handle pipe in diameters of up to 406.4 mm, or 16 inches, and wall thicknesses of up to 50 mm, or 1.97 inches.
“This technically demanding machine will push the limits of small batch processing while still providing the highest quality and flexibility. This machine is also designed to facilitate maintenance and quick tool change,” Fives said in a statement.
The tester was made under Five’s Taylor-Wilson line.
