Jinan Iron & Steel Co., Ltd. recently awarded VAI an order for the design and supply of two primary waste gas cleaning systems for the new LD converters at Steelmaking Plant No. 3 in Jinan, P.R. China.

VAI’s scope of work includes design of the waste gas cleaning plants, supply of key components such as the VAI-BAUMCO scrubber units, and design and supply of the plant automation system. The new plants will provide high performance gas cleaning for the converter offgas utilizing the proven VAI-BAUMCO? scrubbing technology.

Hot startup of the first of the two converters is scheduled for December 23, 2004.
