April 3, 2007 — USS-Posco has selected QlikTech’s flagship business intelligence software solution, QlikView, to streamline operations and human resources functions, consolidate multiple reporting systems, and bring the benefits of visual information analysis to its end users.
“We chose QlikView because we could move forward quickly and get results, without having to build a data warehouse and make huge, speculative investments in time, money and IT resources,” said Rob Wunderlich, Senior Systems Programmer for USS-Posco.
In under four months, USS-Posco developed and deployed half a dozen QlikView business intelligence applications throughout the company, including safety management, analyzing injury causes and OSHA reporting; manufacturing-to-inventory, improving operational efficiency; order-to-fulfillment processes, streamlining tracking; customer and vendor management, analyzing e-commerce activity and supplier performance; human resources reporting, analyzing overtime trends; and international trade reporting and competitive analysis.
“People within USS-Posco can now manage operational results visually, quickly identifying issues and getting to the details in a few clicks, thus improving business performance,” said Wunderlich.
USS-Posco manufactures cold rolled, galvanized and tin mill products from hot rolled steel for more than 150 customers in the western United States. Several modernization programs, representing some of the largest investments in manufacturing facilities in California, have made USS-Posco one of the most efficient and technically advanced steel finishing facilities in the world.
