Uralmashzavod, Italy's PERT to build, sell mini steel plants
04/09/2015 - Uralmashzavod, a division of Russian heavy machinery group OMZ , and Italy's PERT will build and sell mini metallurgical plants, the company said in a statement.
"As for the division of labor, Italy's PERT will be responsible for engineering, since that is their specialty, and everything that concerns the rolling mill. Uralmashzavod will do everything else that concerns the internals of the plant, including the continuous billet casting machine. We are now working with potential customers," the Russian company said.
The companies see Russian companies and foreign companies from Venezuela, Cuba, Ethiopia, Bangladesh and Zambia as potential customers.
Mini steel mills are compact production facilities with a simple organizational structure. The partners primarily plan to build plants to produce rolled products for construction with capacity of 100,000 to 500,000 tonnes per year. The plants use the technology of smelting steel from scrap metal, continuous casting and rolling of finished product.
Uralmashzavod makes equipment for the oil, gas and construction industries, and for ferrous and nonferrous metal plants. The company's strategic partner is Gazprombank.
