Universal Stainless to Continue Operations at Bridgeville Facility
09/16/2008 - Universal Stainless & Alloy Products agrees with Local 9531 of the United Steelworkers to continue operations at the company's Bridgeville facility while the parties continue negotiations for a new labor agreement.
Universal Stainless & Alloy Products, Inc. has agreed with Local 9531 of the United Steelworkers to continue operations at the company's Bridgeville facility while the parties continue to negotiate toward a mutually acceptable labor agreement.
The parties had previously announced an initial continuance of the collective bargaining agreement covering the hourly employees at the facility. This continuance expired on September 12.
Employees continue to work under terms and conditions of the prior agreement, which otherwise would have expired at midnight August 31, 2008.
Headquartered in Bridgeville, Pa., Universal Stainless & Alloy Products, Inc. manufactures and markets a broad line of semi-finished and finished specialty steels, including stainless steel, tool steel and certain other alloyed steels. The company's products are sold to rerollers, forgers, service centers, original equipment manufacturers and wire redrawers.
