United States Steel Corp. kicked off its Pittsburgh-area 2010 United Way employee campaign by hosting its annual Party on the Plaza event on Sept. 21 outside the U. S. Steel Tower. The event, in its fifteenth year and open to the public, is the largest one-day fundraising event for the United Way of Allegheny County.
“U. S. Steel employees are committed to helping the communities where we live and work, and Party on the Plaza is no exception,” said Doug Matthews, Vice President – Tubular Operations for U. S. Steel and chairman of the company’s 2010 United Way campaign. “We are proud to host this event each year and are committed to supporting the United Way of Allegheny County’s efforts to address southwestern Pennsylvania’s most critical health and human services needs.”
Games, raffles, and a silent auction were some of the activities available to attendees. Local celebrities were on hand to sign autographs and pose for pictures. All proceeds from the day’s events benefit the United Way of Allegheny County.
