Unimacts Announces Expansion Into Mexico
11/22/2019 - Unimacts, a Boston, Mass.-based contract fabricator, has acquired a solar tracking components facility in Mexico.
In a statement, Unimacts said the acquisition of the former Gonvarri Industries factory in Tijuana will add one more node to its global supply network for mechanical solar components and assemblies.
“The addition of this factory is a key element in Unimacts’ strategy of providing not just products, but solutions to our customers in North America,” said Matthew Arnold, Unimacts chief executive officer. “And now having a production facility in North America, Unimacts can use U.S. steel and provide short-lead-time solutions.”
The company said the facility can produce tubes, piles and other components. Given Unimacts manufacturing sites elsewhere in the world, the facility also will be able to import other components and accessories, allowing it to deliver kits and other solutions to the North American market.
“This further enables Unimacts to deliver its “Megawatt in a Box” solution for North American OEMs and developers,” the company said.
