According to Primetals Technologies, Ilyich Steel’s new hydraulic downcoiler extends its product range and improves coil telescopicity and winding density. 

Primetals Technologies said the new machine allows for greater coil weights, up to 32 tons, an increases strip thickness capacity from 8 mm to 16 mm at hot yield stresses up to 400 MPa.

“This opens the future opportunity to expand the production range to high-strength steel grades and grades for gas and oil industry,” the company said. 

Primetals Technologies was responsible for basic and detail engineering as well as for the mechanical, hydraulic and electrical equipment. The equipment included a new carryover table, side guides, pinch-roll unit, 3-roller downcoiler and coil stripper car.
