Ukraine's No. 1 Exporter Is a Steelmaker
02/19/2016 - Forbes Ukraine magazine has named ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih as the country’s leading exporter during 2015.
According to ArcelorMittal, the magazine looked at performance results of the largest Ukrainian companies in the first half of last year. It found that the top 10 companies on its list accounted for US$18.5 billion in exports, 27 percent of the overall value of exported goods.
ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih is the largest integrated steelmaker in Ukraine. Its operations include a coke and byproduct plant, iron ore deep mining, and ironmaking and steelmaking facilities.
“ArcelorMittal is committed to its operations in Ukraine and we are proud to be recognized as one of the major drivers of the country’s economy,” said ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih CEO Paramjit Kahlon.
Additionally, the company said it remained as one of the country’s most transparent under Ukraine Centre for Corporate Social Responsibility Development’s transparency index.
The company was rated at 85 percent, the highest of any Ukrainian company, according to ArcelorMittal.
The index evaluates the top 100 largest companies in the country, across 18 economic sectors, and determines the level of transparency and availability of information. The company was evaluated against four criteria: reporting, content, navigation and availability of information relating to corporate social responsibility.
