Uhde to Integrate ThyssenKrupp EnCoke

March 26, 2004 — Dortmund, Germany-based Uhde GmbH will integrate the business of ThyssenKrupp EnCoke in Bochum, Germany, effective April 1, 2004.

Both companies belong to the Plant Technology field of ThyssenKrupp Technologies AG. Uhde will take responsibility for approximately 150 ThyssenKrupp EnCoke employees that will move from Bochum to Dortmund on March 25, 2004.

Integration of ThyssenKrupp EnCoke into Uhde will add coke plant technologies to the engineering company's technology portfolio. Uhde has a workforce of more than 3,700 employees worldwide and has so far been active in the design and construction of chemical and other industrial plants in the fields of refining technologies, fertilizers, organic intermediates and polymers, electrolysis, gas technologies, gasification of oil, coal and residues and pharmaceuticals.

The businesses of ThyssenKrupp EnCoke's subsidiaries, including that of its biggest subsidiary Still Otto Montage GmbH, based in Haltern, Germany, will also be integrated into Uhde. Still Otto Montage, which has some 160 employees, specializes in the maintenance, repair and erection of coke plants, major petrochemical/chemical plants and facilities in other industrial sectors. These activities will remain at the same location, and will ideally complement the range of services offered by Uhde's Services division.

With a broad spectrum of solutions, from revamps to complete new plants, coke plant technologies make an important contribution to cost-effective, environment-friendly steel production.
