Uddeholm Starts Up New ESR Furnace
10/22/2018 - Swedish tool steel manufacturer Uddeholm has tapped the first heat on a new electro-slag remelting (ESR) furnace at its plant in Hagfors, according to the furnace builder, INTECO.
According to INTECO, the furnace, designated as the No. 3 ESR, is capable of producing ingots in diameters of 1,200 mm and in weights of about 30 metric tons.
“With this third furnace up and running, the worldwide leading tool steel producer will further increase its remelting capacity,” INTECO said in a statement.
