UAW Ratifies New Contract With Cleveland-Cliffs’ Rockport Works
10/06/2021 - Cleveland-Cliffs Inc. announced Monday that a new three-year contract has been ratified by employees represented by the United Auto Workers (UAW) Local 3044 at its Rockport Works facility in Indiana.
According to a press release, the new contract for the approximately 350 UAW-represented workers will be in effect from 1 October 2021 through 30 September 2024.
“Our union workforce is at the core of not just what we do but American manufacturing as a whole, and we are pleased to continue our commitment to good-paying middle class jobs with a new labor agreement at Rockport,” Lourenco Goncalves, Cleveland-Cliffs chairman, president and chief executive, said.
“Our local team at Rockport is committed to the long-term health and success of our company, our country, and our environment, and as such, we were able to get a deal done that is fair and equitable for both sides. We embrace our unions as partners and allow for participation in our success.”
